Specialist eye care in Erbil since 2007.

Two fellowship-trained specialists, from eye exams to cataract, laser, cornea and retina surgery.

Basir comes from the Arabic for sight. And for insight.

Is it time to see an eye doctor?

Most eye problems start quietly. If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a proper look.

  • Is reading getting harder?

Holding your phone further away, or needing more light to read a menu.

    Eye exams
  • Do colours look faded or foggy?

Glare from headlights, halos around lights, or a haze that glasses do not fix.

    Cataract & lens surgery
  • Tired of glasses or contact lenses?

Laser vision correction may reduce how much you rely on them.

    LASIK & laser vision correction
  • Is your sight blurred or distorted, even with new glasses?

A cornea that is thinning or changing shape, as in keratoconus, can do this. It is worth having it checked.

    Cornea & corneal transplant
  • Do you have diabetes?

Diabetes can affect the back of the eye long before you notice. A yearly eye check is recommended.

    Retina & vitreoretinal surgery
  • Does glaucoma run in your family?

Glaucoma often has no early symptoms. Regular checks are the only way to catch it early.

    Glaucoma care
  • Is your child squinting, or sitting close to the screen?

Young eyes are easiest to treat early, and we see children of every age.

    Children’s eyes & squint
  • Has an eyelid started to droop?

A drooping lid can narrow your view as well as change how you look, and it is usually treatable.

    Eyelids & orbit
  • Does one eye water all the time?

A blocked tear duct is a common cause, in babies and in adults, and it can usually be opened.

    Tear duct surgery
  • Are your eyes gritty, burning or watering?

Dust, screens and dry air can all cause it, and it is usually treatable.

Sudden change in your vision?

Sudden loss of sight, a curtain across your vision, a burst of new floaters or flashes, or an injury to the eye needs urgent attention. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for eye emergencies. Call us now.

Can you still read the bottom line?

Every visit starts with a chart like this one, measured properly. If the last lines stay blurry, it is worth a check.

What happens when you call.

  1. Tell us what is wrong

Call or send a WhatsApp message. Describe what you are noticing, and we will suggest the right appointment.

  2. Get a careful exam

We test your sight and look at the whole eye, front to back, before anything is decided.

  3. Leave with a clear plan

We explain what we found in plain words, and what comes next. No guessing, no pressure.

It starts with one call.

Before you call.

Still have a question?Message us on WhatsApp

Do I need a referral?

No. You can call or message us directly.

Who will I see?

One of our two specialists: Dr. Hashim Ahmed Hasan, fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery, or Dr. Mohammed Yavari, fellowship-trained in corneal surgery. Every patient is seen by a specialist.

How long does an eye exam take?

It depends on what we need to check, but an eye exam takes 30 minutes at most.

Will my eyes be dilated?

Sometimes. Drops that widen the pupil let the doctor see the back of the eye. Your vision may be blurry and sensitive to light for a few hours afterwards, so it is best not to drive yourself home.

What should I bring?

Your glasses or contact lenses, a list of any medicines you take, and any previous eye reports or scans.

Do you see children?

Yes, children of every age, from newborns and toddlers to teenagers.

What if it is an emergency?

Call us at any hour. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for eye emergencies. Regular clinic visits are Saturday to Thursday, 2 pm to 8 pm.

Can I message instead of calling?

Yes. All three of our numbers are on WhatsApp, so you can write to any of them.
